I have to drive to Orlando from Citrus Park (Tampa) for a conference Thursday morning. I need to be there by 8:00am. I was thinking of leaving my house by 5:30am. Does anyone know what traffic is like on I-4 to Orlando around 5-6:00 am?

Thanks!

That will depend on how many fools are on the road and if there is fog or not. I've seen it move fast and I've been caught in a parking lot.

I think your planned departure time is a safe time in case you do hit a snag. Traffic in Orlando starts to build around 8 so you should get here right before rush hour really starts to peak. However, traffic can be heavy around the theme parks at just about any time but you should be ok.

Leaving at 5am will get you there with no traffic problems and give you time for a coffee stop near your destination.

5:30am will give you plenty of time from Citrus Park.

I go almost every other month for a meeting into downtown Orlando early in the morning just like you from Citrus Park via veterans and I am there in no time.

Light traffic; 80mph to keep up with the left lane.
