I worked in the schools and on chilly mornings (key word mornings) you would see the kids coming into school wearing everything from shorts and tshirts to winter parkas, hats, scarfs, gloves, even boots. Are these people living in the same state????

Probably the best would be long pants with a sweater or light jacket which can be taken off later in the day when it warms up.

You can forget cocnut palms in the Tampa area. You may get by for a few years without it getting killed, but there will always be that one winter that will kill it.

I had a coconut palm that lasted for about 18 years when i lived in Danashores, anytime it got below 28 i would use eletro blankets on the base and heart.

I would love that temp. average year round as well, but in all my research of locations in the US, there is no such place. Even San Diego, recognized as having the best year round temps., it is very common to have lows in the 40's and highs in the 50's to low 60's for a good portion from December thru April. Too cold for me. I personally like the temps here from October thru May. I consider it uncomfortable in June and September, but think it is brutally wicked in July and August. Personally, I would rather suffer two months of very high humidity and heat then have to suffer through about 4-5months of cold and gray conditions. The trade off of 2-3 months of heat and humidity for pretty amazing weather for most of the rest of the year is worth it for me. If I had the money, I would spend July and August in San Diego (amazing weather at that time) and the rest here.
