I'm considering either majoring to become a dentist or a pharmacist. But, I understand that jobs in FL don't pay as much. Would I be making considerably less in these fields as well? If so, how much would I be making?

Any advice for a good dental or pharmaceutical college?

Go with your heart. Start your medical courses and eventually they will take you on the path you need to be on. Go with the intent of helping people not following the buck. Get your heart right and the money will follow. Not the other way around.

Tampa should have the colleges you need. Best wishes in helping humanity.

Aren't you still in high school? If so, why are you worried about incomes in FL, are you certain you want to live here after you graduate from college? The economy can change a lot by the time you graduate from college and graduate school, it could be better or worse. Some parts of FL have better incomes than others.

The best pharmacy or dental school in FL is U of Florida in Gainesville.
U of FL College of Pharmacy:
University of Florida College of Pharmacy

U of FL College of Dentistry:
UF | College of Dentistry : Welcome

The US Bureau of Labor statistics may answer a lot of your questions: Bureau of Labor Statistics Home Page

Also, check out job boards such as Monster.com or Careerbuilder.com to see if any of the available jobs have salaries listed. Your guidance counselor might be able to help you as well.

Pharmacists are some of the highest paid positions in the country and they are always in demand. It's not a terribly popular program, too much chemistry for most people. Since there are fewer graduates, there is usually a shortage of qualified personnel available for jobs. Thus the higher incomes. You will make more if you work for one of the big chains like CVS or Walgreens. Some hospitals pay well also.

Dentists tend to make less than medical doctors but better than most professions. You will have to find a position in a private practice or open a practice your self. You will be expected to carry malpractice insurance just as physicians do and you will need some business skills as well. Incomes can vary depending on the size of the practice or the specialty. Orthodontists make more than general dentists.

google "florida choices" and it'll give you information from the FL dept. of education. It'll tell you everything you need to know regarding schools, demand for jobs in FL by city and pay rates. It's great!
