1) Is it diverse, or mostly Caucasian?
2) Are there different housing options (income), or is it mostly expensive?

I consider South Tampa to be the section of land(Interbay Peninisula) south of Kennedy Blvd, Bayshore Blvd and Hillsborough Bay to the East, Westshore Blvd and Tampa Bay to the West, and MacDill Air Force base to the South.

1) Mostly Caucasian
2) Different Housing Options - most expensive being in the 33629, 33611 and 33609 areas(Hyde Park, New Suburb Beautiful, Golfview, Bayshore Gardens/Beautiful, Ballast Point, Beach Park, Culbreath Bayou/Isles, Sunset Park), least expensive in the 33616(Sun Bay South, Interbay, Port Tampa City), but there are pockets of all types of housing in each zip code.

thanks! I wasn't sure if S. Tampa was a town or just a name for a group of neighborhoods

Tampa Guy is right on about the boundaries of south Tampa, however a pretty significant distinction is usually made between those neighborhoods south of Gandy Blvd and those to the north of Gandy (some friends use the expression NOG or SOG). The neighborhoods south of Gandy have experienced a significant gain in upscale, newer homes in recent years but there is still a large congregation of moderately priced ranch houses as well. It's an area in change.

Yes, south Tampa is predominately, but not exclusively, caucasion. I personally see that as a benefit since as a result the crime rate is much lower than in some other areas of Tampa.

There are some long established posh neighborhoods in south Tampa including Hyde Park, Beach Park, New Suburb Beautiful, etc., and the prices are prohibitive for many. By the way, south Tampa includes Bayshore Blvd and the Westshore area and is only 5 or 7 minutes from downtown and all of the cultural/entertainment events offered there.

Good luck in your search......
