I have a realtor helping me find a rental property. He informed me that the landlord pays his fee. There are a few properties that came up on my search and not his. How should I approach this situation? Should I contact those places myself or have him do it?

You would have to examine your contract with the agent. If the apartment is listed in the MLS, they will be paying a fee to your agent. If the property does not pay a fee, your contract may call for you to pay.

Go back and see what you have agreed to.

could be that the criteria you gave agent is not same as one you are using and so it may be picking up different listings. Also you might be looking in more places, it happens. If you like the agent, then work with them, they may know the area better than you and help you avoid pitfalls. If you are not convinced, you are free to walk away. If agent has not come up with the property you have found, then they can't really be expected to make a commission. But if you then visit with agent, it's only fair they receive compensation for their time.
