WHATABURGER and HEB Grocery.

Both are from Texas. HEB would give Publix a run for their money. Whataburger is a fast food place. I thought it was an independent, locally owned store when I first went into one (very old location). Of course, later I discovered they were a chain.

I'm sure someone already said this but, Trader Joes (likely) and In N Out Burger (unlikely).

Oh a lot of people mention Wegmans.I used to live near a bunch of Wegmans up North. These stores were ginormous CATHEDRALS of food. Really over the top Vegas style grocery stores and the employees were pretty decent. However, when you really break down Wegmans, and get past all the glamour and gilitter of the actual store, it's a pretty crappy grocery store. The bakery items were always very low quality and tasted horrible. A lot of the meat items came in vacuum packed plastic pouches that made the meat look really old and I never used to shop there for meats. The seafood counter was good. The prices were average and the sales were non-existent. Their "deli" was a joke; I don't recall what meats they sold, but they did not have Boars Head.

The one thing they did have was a spectacular produce section.

But I prefer Publix any day of the week. At Publix I can find a lot more international items, much better meats, much better bakery items. And Publix still has the best employees of any store in the US, IMHO.

Wegmans will never come here. There is way too much grocer competition, a lot more than in Wegmans' core areas up North.

We had Whataburger here, they flopped and all of them closed a couple years ago.

I dont get Whataburger. I first tried it years ago when I was out west on a trip. It was ok, nothing to write home about for the price.

Pretty much fits in with the northern snob viewpoint of everything. They pay a premium for the opportunity to buy overpriced, under-quality goods in a "cathedral". Sounds about right.

Publix owns all supermarkets. You people who have not lived outside of FL and had to deal with crappy stores like Safeway, Ingles, Kroger, Giant, etc have no idea how good Publix is until you dont have it.

Thats exactly right. It was this very showy palace of food, but the stuff they actually sold (except the produce) was the kind of stuff you would find in a Safeway, Giant, Ralphs, Winn Dixie etc.

LOVE Taco Cabana. Dunno why they have not expanded here. By the way Baja Fresh just opened its first store in Tampa Bay in Wesley Chapel last week!!!!!!!!!!!

However, you know they have Del Taco in Orlando, right???? I go to Orlando, which I hate, just to go there.
