I will be working at VA Bay Pines for the next few months and I am having a pretty hard time finding short term, furnished apartments.

I was wondering if anyone could advise me on any neighbourhoods to avoid (being a single female in an unfamiliar city) or rather any areas where I should be concentrating my efforts.

Also, if anyone would have any ideas on where I could find short term furnished units in the area, apart from Craigslist, that would be great.

Thanks!

The Gulfport area has a lot of furnished apartments due to the law students at Stetson. Just make certain that you're in Gulfport because east of Gulfport gets seedy.

There is ZERO reason for him to live in Gulfport. There are nicer places MUCH closer to Bay Pines...

You have some apartments for rent there?

If you would have read the post, you would see that it is a single female looking for furnished apartments. Gulfport has furnished apartments readily available. It was a suggestion for her. I would recommend downtown St. Pete but finding a furnished short-term apartment may be more difficult.

No interest; just recommendations based on necessities.

They also said they wanted to be CLOSE to Bay Pines. Gulfport and downtown St. Pete are not really close to Bay Pines. Furnished apartments can be found in Seminole, Maderia Beach, and closer to BP.

That's what I got out of that. Close to Bay Pines. Which I do not consider Gulfport or downtown St. Pete close...

I live near downtown St. Pete and work at Bay Pines. It isn't close exactly, but definitely commuting distance (about 20 minutes from my home). Lots of safe areas with apartments near entertainment down here like Old Northeast or Crescent Lake, but not sure about short term. A lot of these older homes have detached garage apartments, so that might be an idea. You may also consider contacting a real estate company. We used Smith and Associates for purchasing our home, but I know they do also have a rental depareltment.
