Has anyone noticed that the vast majority of doctors in the Paso, Hernando county areas are Arab? Just curious...does anyone know why they have heavily populated this area?

I hadn't noticed that many "Arab" doctors, but there are a lot of Indian (not Native American) doctors. They can sometimes look very similar.

Wow. I'm going to hold my tongue and not reply to either of these posts.

Two of my doctors in recent years, including my present one, are of Indian origin. Both have been excellent physicians! There is so much opportunity for success in America compared to their home country that it's alluring to make the move. At least that's my understanding.

A doctor should work where they are needed. They should not become doctors so they can move to a wealthier place and become rich. Just my opinion. I am pretty sure India, and Arabia would appreciate them as much as we do.

Same thing with some americans I know. I know a girl who wants to be a nurse so she can move to NYC. Do you want to be a nurse, or do you want to come to NYC? You know.

I am not debating immigration

Sometimes it's hard to just find a doctor that will see you. Usually the send in the nurse practitioner. My wife has a female Indian doctor and loves her.

I still don't understand the point of these posts?

I wasn't trying to be offensive at all. I don't see how anything I said could be taken as such. I was merely stating my observations in response to the original poster's questions.

But if I did offend anyone I apologize. I happen to think doctors of Indian descent are excellent in their field. And, while I haven't had any experience personally, I'm sure doctors of middle-eastern descent are, too.

I wasnt trying to offend anyone either. You go to the doctor you feel comfortable with. I was just curious why that eithnic group is so heavy here. Thought there might be a reason?

Asians (of which Indians are the 2nd largest group) make up approx. 3% of the U.S. and Florida population but make up around 10% of the Physician population.

Put simply, if you walk into a healthcare facility as opposed to your local mall, you are more than 3x as likely to see an Indian person.

Reasons are complex but it is doubtful they studied to become doctors as a ticket to the U.S. There are easier ways to legally immigrate to the U.S. than to put in the years of medical school and training.
