I was wondering about the traffic conditions from Bradenton to Tampa Monday through Friday during the morning commute. My office is in Tampa and I'm thinking about living in Bradenton. Is the traffic too bad to make that commute daily?

I'm from Southern California where the traffic is always bad.

Thanks for your help.

Thats just a long ride, have you mapquest the mileage?
Im not too familiar with the rush hour from Bradenton to Tampa, but I once lived off SR 64 in Bradenton about 3 miles west of I-75, and to get to downtown Tampa was about a 35-40 min drive each way in non-rush hour times(I-75 to Crosstown/Selmon Expsy to downtown Tampa).

My husband works in downtown Tampa, and we were considering a move to Bradenton. He has made long commutes for years and doesn't mind it. We would have bought in the northwest area off Manatee Ave. and the commute would have been as Tampaguy said 35-40 minutes which to us is a breeze.

We did not move to Bradenton, instead we moved east to Lakeland which we love much more than Bradenton, but the commute is about the same - about 35-40 minutes, Polk Parkway to I-4 into downtown Tpa. Not much traffic, easy ride.

Good luck!

Bradenton is pretty but beware of traffic during snow bird season. I would suggest before you make a decision you take a drive during rush hour from work to where you want to live to decide if it is for you. Snowbirds arrive late October or early November.

Default Compared to Southern California?

I'm north of Tampa so I not an expert on the Bradenton-Tampa commute but I happened to do the Bradenton to Tampa route last Friday during rush hour. I was going northbound and I was quite surprised at how heavy the traffic was going southbound. So yes, it is pretty heavy BUT..... I have spent a lot of time in Southern California and that seems to be your frame of reference.

If San Diego is what you're comparing to you will find that Bradenton/Tampa ride very enjoyable. While very busy the traffic was moving along fairly well. If L.A. or O.C. is what you're talking about you'll think Bradenton/Tampa traffic is heaven.

Like all things traffic is relative. To me Southern California is the worst traffic congestion anywhere outside NYC.
