Looking for 55+ communities close to the gulf. Wanting to buy a house but must be close to the beach (short drive 10 - 15 minutes) in a nice area. Anyone have any suggestions?

There is no real beach close to NPR or PR. Not many areas nice in west Pasco, but home prices are the cheapest in the nation.

Chas is right no beaches in NPR, your classic Florida Beaches start in Clearwater Beach and go south from there. Try the Indian Rocks or Redington areas

Dunedin has two premier beaches (Honeymoon and Caladesi Islands) nearby. I am not sure of 55+ communities, but there have to be a number of them in the area.

Edgewater Arms are two high rise buildings located in downtown Duedin that are 55+.You also have many 55+ trailor parks one nice one is Honeymoon Park but a realtor would be able to show you more.I think on the Dunedin causeway there are some 55+ buildings...with great views...I would take a ride and stop in each building and ask!Good luck!
