Hi everyone - Am considering a move to St. Pete, most likely living downtown. Does anyone know what the morning commute is from St. Pete downtown to Oldsmar? Mapquest told me it's about 23 miles and 28 minutes, but of course that doesn't factor in traffic. The route it has me taking is 275 North to 686 West to 611 North to 580 East. Is this the best route? Or would it be better taking 19 North all the way to 580 East? Any insight appreciated - thanks.

Adam

I would say the most expedient way to get out of St. Pete is probably 275, however there are other ways to get to 580. The drive depending on the time would be around 40 minutes. If you take 19 you are going against the traffic coming down from upper pinellas, which is heavy traffic. I live off 580, but when we go out is out of commuters traffic time. Perhaps somebody else here will be able to give you a better idea.

This route 275 to 686(roosevelt blvd by the airport) to 611(bayside bridge, McMullen Booth rd) to 580 is the best way to go in my opinion. I often drove my daughter to downtown St Pete morning rush in 45 min. My return trip took about 30 min.

I second what cariad says - McMullen Booth is usually faster.

BTW, they just opened up another stretch of Belcher, I think - would that be a good third alternate route?

Belcher is too far west. If there are problems on McMullen Booth -after crossing the bayside bridge our alternative rte was to take Bayshore drive up through Safety Harbor>Phillipe Parkway> 580. It may take even less time than McMullen Booth as there are no red lights.
