Hi There,

Me and my girlfriend moved to Tampa from the Boston area and are looking to meet new people. Any ideas? Anything other than the bar scenes would be appreciated. Thanks!

Brent

Also, tons of New Englanders down here - just head over to a Rays game when the Red Sox are in town. Half of the stadium is filled with Sox fans ...

Default Looking for friends

Hi!

My husband is 26 and I am 24 so it would be very nice to meet new people. We will be moving at the end of May so it may take a bit to meet up somewhere. However, we would love to hang out!

Just one lil' thing...my hubby is a HUGE Yankees fan. lol!

Hey lauriemsr,

he's a yankees fan?! that might be a deal breaker. haha. Where are you guys moving from? Tampa is a pretty cool little city so far.

Anyways, that would be cool to meet up when you guys get out here. I don't know how this thing works but you can send me an email and I'll send you our details n stuff!

Meet up is a great way to meet friends... Since you find a group with a common interest, conversations are easy, and the awkward "tell me about yourself" is offset by a common topic.

When I moved to Florida I didn't know about Meet up... Instead I made a list of my current and past interests (knitting, Kiwanis, church denomination, etc.) Then I joined groups, attended services, and found a place that felt like home. I was able to move behind my favorite knit shop, down the street from the local Kiwanis. The church thing didn't work out, but since I had a network of friends, it was not required. Since then, my interests have expanded and I use Meet up to find new activities.

With Meet up, you can do something similar... you like wine? you like knitting? Yankees? Tampa is big, there are plenty of people to meet.
