Hello everyone. Can someone tell me about living on madeira beach. To be exact on 144th avenue. How is that area? We are staying in that area for 3 month. From jumy to september. Its me, my husband and my 5 year old son. Is that a safe area? Due to my husbands job, we had to relocate to florida and being on the beach is important to me. The only concern i have is crime. Is this a safe area? Also, which beach is most family friendly and less touristy?

Thanks everyone

An eclectic mix of houses that would normally be rather inexpensive but as they are close to the beach they command a high price.
The beach area there used to be nice back in the 60's but over the years the whole strip has become a wall of 20 story hotel/condo concrete bunkers. Use Google street views to walk around the neighborhood..
The area you would be living would be the bottom right of this pic =

Ft Desoto is my favorite beach in the area,Madeira is a bit on the crowded side for me..
Pass a Grille,Redington and Indian Rocks are a few communities i find nicely situated on the beach and although some what built up lack the density of the highrise hotel/condo buildings...

Thx for the answers everyone! My question was, is that area safe to live on. 144th Avenue. I dont mind the condo's highrise, tourist. My question is specifically, is it a safe area as far as crime.

Our daughter went there for Spring Break and had a great time...of course it is not Spring Break like Panama City but they wanted the opposite from that and that is what they got...a nice time.

Madeira Beach is great. One of the few beaches in the area you can legally drink alcohol on.
Grab a cooler full of brewskies and some suntan lotion and your set for the day.

As for crime, crime is not bad in any of the beach areas in Pinellas county. That's why it costs an arm and a leg to live there. It keeps the riff raff out.
