We are thinking about relocating to the Tampa area. We love what Fishhawk has to offer and see that the schools are tops there. Is there any community in the north or northwest area of Hillsborough county that offer similar amenities and schools? I would like to be closer to the ocean, and will likely be commuting to the Davis Island area. Areas to avoid? Thanks for your insight!

who about looking at Cheval up in Lutz....beaches are probably just as close as Brandon/Valrico, but the area looks very nice up there (horse country).

How do the schools compare up there?

Holy cow...sorry about my post - didn't make much sense, did it? ....sorry, can't vouch for any of the schools, although the Steinbrenner schools in the area "look" good. Cheval is a higher rent area - richer folks live up there and probably have a better school system because of that (just a guess). I've spent some time in the communities surround the TPC Tampa Bay and really liked the look of the community there. Had a northern feel to it with sidewalks, streetlights, neighbors interacting, etc. Many of the subdivisions have the cookie-cutter look and this one didn't. Of course, you have CDD, HOA, Deed Restrictions in many of developments in this kind of setting.

It does look like a nice option. Thanks! I see that the weather risk is high for tornados, do you get many?

You might see stats about tornadoes in this area being high - but I think stat-keepers include these waterspouts that occur regularly off the coast and don't do damage. I think our biggest risk is if/when hurricanes move across the state. There are a few weather specialists (CHASL) who know a lot about the weather issues here.

Thanks... It looks nice. Should I expect both HOA and CDD (whatever they are called) there as well?
