I've lived here ten months now and have the exact opposite opinion. Florida was nice when I used to visit numerous times each year, but now that I live here Florida's amazing. The sunshine, blue skies, warmth, natural beauty, and friendly people have made my life better. I truly feel I've found my climatic home and am where I'm supposed to be. I am ever so grateful. I wish everyone could feel this sense of belonging and joy.

I have been here 22 years and love it. I can't stand being inside the house and living in Fl affords me the opportunity to be outside all year long. That being said, as soon as I retire, I'm heading south. Gets too cold for me in Tampa bay.

OK, I'm curious. How far south are you heading? Fort Meyers? Keys?

I agree. I'm a third generation Florida native, and I LOVE it here. I moved away after college for about 6 years and lived in the Midwest and Tennessee. Although those places were OK, they were nothing like my home state. I moved back about 10 years ago and now have no intention of living anywhere else. Where else can you walk the beach at Christmastime in 80 degree weather?

Actually plenty of places ... pull out your globe and just look ... but Xmas trees look much better with icicles on them rather than seaweed.

Well, that's a game changer.

I never allowed for the appearance of outside Christmas trees when planning my move.

And I'll never fit in. Can't see myself decking the hall with boughs of seaweed.

I should have spent more time staring at the globe if I had one.

We don't decorate with seaweed here, silly! We string lights on our coconut palms, and put out margaritas for Santa who arrives in his good sweet time by his sleigh powered by pink flamingos! There is nothing like a good laid-back Florida Christmas!!!

You don't need no globe, you found your place right here, man!

Phew! That's a relief! The dream is back on!

Thinking of the kind of air-conditioning system that would be needed to form icicles on the Christmas tree discouraged me no end. Up north we just open the doors and windows and put a mister on it.

Laid back is my kinda place. I love those goofy flamingos! I saw some up close at Busch Gardens when we were there over spring break. They are as funny as they are beautiful. No wonder fun-loving Santa got rid of those stodgy reindeer and hired 'em.

I believe you're right. Florida is my new home state...despite the seaweed.
