Palm Harbor

Scratch Orlando...its hotter (no breeze), and its crime infested.

Vero Beach = Middle of Nowhere

Are you renting or buying? What is your price range? What else is important to you?

I agree with Algia on Orlando..

I would also check out S. Tampa and Land O lakes. So much depends on what else you would like close by

You are absolutely CORRECT about the fact that it is HOTTER over there. Wooo Weee it gets REALLY hot and humid over there. We had a family reunion over there a few years ago in July and we all thought we were going to sweat to death. lol

Yep, we lived in Orlando 4 years.......

...and oddly enough the "Love Bug" seasons are worst over there than they are by the Gulf Coast...(to add insult to injury that is)...LOL

Palm Harbor or Oldsmar/East Lake. Both school districts are equal (Palm Harbor University HS or East Lake HS), it's nicer weather for sure with actual breezes in the summer, safe family-friendly neighborhoods and a lot more to do that isn't all tourist oriented.

This ^^^ is my recommendation, also for the reasons stated above.

In Florida you just need to find expensive homes to find a good school.

Can't believe someone suggested Land Lakes while saying no to Orlando.

You probably should post in FL forum for more balanced answers.

If I could work from home and make good money, I would live out in BFE, where the kids would not have to deal with white trash scum and ghetto influences. Somewhere like Cedar Key, Dunellon or Steinhatchee on the water.

So you'd live where schools are average and education levels are low or a retirement town. That equates to poor schools which isn't helpful to the OP.
