Please note that the beach communities skew toward the higher-aged demographic. Most people who live in those communities are either retirees with money or younger blue collar workers without.

For example, the Yacht & Tennis Club of St Pete Beach is a very nice community and in that range ($200s down from the $500s). However, the resemblance to Seinfeld's parents' community of "Del Boca Vista Phase Two" is uncanny: senile condo board members, nosy neighbors with too much time on their hands, etc. It goes with the territory.

Dead on, and right now one of the reasons I could never pull the trigger over there to buy.

Different strokes for different folks, many also wouldn't be caught dead over on the east side of the Bay.
