My fiance and I are relocating to the area July 1st.

Any experiences with these units? We favoring them by simply looking at reviews and other information.

Any help is much appreciated.

I'm familiar with the property. It is a conveniently-located apartment complex with decent amenities that was a failed condo conversion.

When I say failed, I mean that the original developer was unable to sell all the units. There are now privately-owned units right next to developer-controlled rental units, and anyone attempting to sell or rent has to compete with the current developer. I believe the current developer may still control the condo board.

I would highly discourage anyone from buying, unless 1) they don't need to sell their unit for a long, long time, and 2) they do not have a problem with the developer calling the shots. For example, in cases where a developer controls a condo board and wants a $10k/unit special assessment to spruce the place up to help them sell more units, then you have no choice but to write a check. You don't get a vote in the matter.

Thanks for the reply chi_tino. I should've stated that we are just looking to rent for the first year. We aren't planning on buying any of the units. We are taking the risk of renting a unit without being there locally (currently in St. Louis) so I was hoping to get some first hand experience.

Is there anything else you can add as far as amenities/safety/area that we should be aware of?

Thanks so much for your assistance.

Great area, convenient to restaurants, shopping, and easy travel to Tampa (10 min to the airport, 15 to downtown) and downtown St Pete (15 minutes).

I think the property is being managed pretty well (I am familiar with the mgmt company) and the amenities are pretty good for the price. Except for the failings of the previous developer to sell the condos, I have not heard anything negative about the property.
