Gorgeous cloud formations though....

We always drive in the rain, its part of the climate down here; plus, now we're in the "rainy" season, and I do hope we get lots of it...I hate seeing ponds all dry.

That is exactly what I am talking about BucFan

I love those clouds! I only got one as I walked out of Publix today...tomorrow I might be chasing this storm around a bit more.

You call that ugly cloud beautiful? I'll take the blue skies of Arizona over that thank you. Besides, I can't even take my scooter out in this lousy weather. I have to drive my junky gas guzzling Buick instead.

Was it the blue sky that made you buy the Buick?

I'll take the gorgeous cloud over being landlocked in AZ! and its "tourists"!

Completely agreed, the sunsets and skies in summer are absolutely stunning, so much more dynamic and involved than the blue-and-basic winter panoramas. I photographed a bunch of twilight landscapes of downtown Tampa for NPR/WUSF and their coverage of the Republican National Convention for August, and I did so too early. The skies just weren't interesting enough yet. Lately, I'm looking at the clock around 8:15 every night, trying to see if the clouds will break long enough for me to squeeze in a 20 minute shoot. Not much luck so far, but I know that we're very close to having one of those absolutely illustrious summer sunsets. I can't wait!

You sound like you know a little about photography and color. I always wondered, with Arizona sunsets such as these, there are like these straight lines that shoot out from the sun.

Do you know what causes those lines that shoot out like that? They don't look like that here for some reason.

Those are shadows cast form to tops of the clouds. Just more noticeable at sunset because of the angle, the rays are shooting over the top of the formations rather than straight down.

Good question, desert_scene. I believe those are atmospheric issues better suited toward a meteorologist or a geologist. All I know is light

WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!! AUUUUUUUUUGH!

On a serious note. Looking forward to some lightning storms. They're always fun to watch. I knew I should have has the tree hanging over my Pool Enclosure trimmed earlier, not to mention the Cypress tree leaning toward my house on the easement. <crossing fingers>
