Can you plant a hedge on the property line? If not, then what are the set-back requirements for planting a hedge?

Depending if you are in a HOA or not. For a HOA community you have to verify with your HOA.

Otherwise I believe you have to put it completely on your property OR you have to come to an agreement with your neighbors and if they have no problem with it than you can put it in on the property line but don't let it be something to start an issue with neighbors since it is not worth to fight with your neighbors over a hedge.

Thanks much. My neighbor planted it IN my yard (on my side of the property line. When I confronted him about it, he told me it was on the property line, not in my yard; then he told me that the city told him that he could put it there. This is testing my niceness.

Ask the HOA! (if there is any). & Put a fence up. That should keep the neighbor on HIS side. Also ask the city for the blue prints, that will also tell you EXACTLY where the property line IS.

His answer is idiotic...think about it...if he put it on the property line, then where is YOUR property line? that line is not 5 feet wide for sure.

Look at your survey. It will show the distance between the house and the property line.

Just measure and see where it falls.
