I don't think very many people would argue that fireworks on the 4th are fun. I enjoy going to a good show myself, and I enjoy watching my husband and kids light up sparklers and other types of fireworks that are legal in the state of Florida. We do this every year and have a great time.

What some of us have a problem with, however, is when people light off extremely loud fireworks well beyond 10:00 pm for several nights in a row and then leave the mess behind for their neighbors to deal with. It's downright inconsiderate to set off illegal fireworks at 1 am several nights in a row. And it's also very inconsiderate when those setting the fireworks off leave their garbage behind to blow into other people's yards throughout the week. It has nothing to do with being a redneck or poor or whatever … I know plenty of poor people and rednecks who would never dream of being so inconsiderate and classless that they would set off fireworks at 1 am near their neighbor's homes multiple nights in a row.

I try my best to be a good neighbor. I want my family to have fun on holidays that involve fireworks, but I would never allow my kids to light off extremely loud fireworks after 10 pm or to leave their garbage littering the neighborhood.

You say ridiculous hyperbole??? Pot kettle black. Who said anything about terrorists?? But to get your panties in a bunch over some NOISE that's a little inconvenient or call people white trash over it...is snobbish AND ridiculous.

We get some fireworks, and couldn't do anything last night w/the rain-but we heard plenty of neighbors going at it until VERY late (which we normally do not do)-probably past 1am...oh well, we were watching a movie, enjoying the night, somehow not even my dog barked much. It's REALLY petty IMO to get all twisted about it-but you do have the right to call the cops and feel and insult whoever you want.

Yes, and understood. We also pick up after ourselves always, and we don't get the illegal ones. I do have neighbors that do...and ALL the kids LOVE him for it, it's the fun loud ones to them...but normally it ends by midnight. I can see where it's INCONVENIENT if it goes on later and several days, but it's really not worthy of me insulting people, calling cops or such things. But only my view of course.

Lots of fireworks around me last night, despite the almost continuous rain. But it tapered off and by the time midnight rolled around I couldn't really hear anything. Slept like a baby all night. I guess we'll find out if there will be more tonight but I didn't hear anything in the days prior to the 4th.

And illegal.

Exploding fireworks are illegal in Florida but there is a loophole. - OrlandoSentinel.com

But I guess it's ok to pick and choose which laws to follow. Lying on a state document? No biggie.

When I was at the firework store on the 4th the Sheriff was helping put fireworks in the bag. I though that was awesome. He seemed to be having a good time.
