We are looking at a house that is about 10 miles north of downtown off of 275. What am I looking at for rush hour commutes?

20-40 minutes depending on actual travel time and route chosen.

The drive is fairly smooth until you get to the I-4 / I-275 interchange. It's been re-worked downtown, but there's still quite a backup. It almost scared my pants off last Friday afternoon. And morning is always less conjested than the afternoon.

I'm wondering about this too. Has the commute improved or is the construction still going on? What would be the average daily commute time for an 8-5 type job in Tampa? Is it steady traffic throughout the trip, or does it let up at a certain point?

Unless one of the locals knows a shortcut, as far as i know you are pretty much stuck to dale mabry or the veterans depending on where you are as far as getting to 275 or heading south, and from the times i done that trip during rush hour seems like half of tampa is trying to get north in the afternoon. 275/i4 intersection is east of you, you wont have to go through that, not to go downtown anyway, 275 into downtown opens up 5 lanes wide so thats pretty good, downtown traffic isnt bad, unless you are turning into kennedy ave or one of the choke points, even then not terrible. I would worry about getting south in the morning and north in the afternoon, with every one else doing the same pattern.
