i know it sounds strange but ive become infatuated with Moon Lake and the stories surrounding it. it seems fascinating and sad but also not unlike the rest of america, with good parts and bad. its just that this is a lake in the middle of nowhere as opposed to an inner city. if I didnt think I would get harmed in some way just for going to look and observe what life is like, i would.

There is no place in the Tampa bay area you would be harmed for driving around in broad day light.

I can relate to this! When we first started looking at the area to move to back in 2000, I saw Moon Lake on a map and wanted to explore it. So we took a drive up there to look around. I, too, felt a little strange driving in there. Once we drove into the actual subdivision or whatever you call it, it seemed to get a little darker, like twilight in the day time. There was a sort of mysterious feel to the area. Some "streets" were nothing more than dirt or hardpan, with manufactured homes or trailers set a few yards back. Some of the homes were nice and neat and well kept, others reminded me of a Jeff Foxworthy routine, with appliances on the front porch, a couple of cur dogs slinking around and one place had a rebel flag in the window for a curtain.
We saw a few weathered, squinty-eyed, mean looking men sitting on their porches, as if being very alert to unfamiliar vehicles in their neighborhood. We did not get a welcoming feeling. In fact the whole vibe was sort of "if you don't have business here, move on." So we did.

I know you from another thread and you know the area. I'm not sure where Moonlake is but I was wondering about Seven Springs. I just got back from Fl and visited family up in NPR, Seven Springs CC. Very nice area. I understand this part of NPR might change to become Trinity. Where is this Moonlake in relation to7 Springs?

i would love it if you would describe more, i am looking to write a book regarding this tiny neighborhood. once i get the nerve maybe i will drive through it, as i dont live to far. i am very drawn to everything about it in a weird voyeristic type of way. i wish i could be a fly on the wall. i guess to get material for my book i could look to any neigborhood with similar demographics but something just draws me to this one.... please tell me more. thanks
