I was told to look in the 34655 area near East Lake for great houses that are newer or updated and at great prices. I looked into this area and found this to be true, at least from the other end of the computer. I noticed there were far fewer short sales and more traditional sales in this area compared to areas a little closer in to Tampa.

So I'm looking for some info on what it's like living in this area? Pros and cons?

My boss who could afford to live in most places bought a house there, its a newer area, he seems to like it, he does not have any school age children, and he was looking to be in Pasco for the taxes, however during Storm Debbie his house got flooded really bad, had to resheet his first floor.

East Lake is a nice area...there are several nice subdivisions on East Lake rd going towards Tampa not Trinity...Its a suburb.

People got flooded in Pasco county from Debbie who were not even in a flood zone. This Florida, anywhere can be flooded if it rains enough.

East Lake is a good area. Make sure you check the Flood Zone of any homes you would like to buy though.

East Lake is in PINELLAS county. Sorry some previous posters are confusing you and saying its in Pasco. Most of East Lake is in Palm Harbor, with neighborhoods right on or close to Lake Tarpon. It's a newer suburb with some expensive neighborhoods.

Lots of golf courses, traffic isn't terrible, most of your stores and restaurants are going to be of the shopping center variety, but its a short drive to Countryside (Clearwater), Western Tampa, or Tarpon Springs. Good schooling in the area as well... I believe the elementary schools are Forest Lakes and Cypress Creek. Carwise Middle and Tarpon Middle, and then East Lake High.

When you said 34655 I think you meant 34685.

East Lake is a "census desginated area" that consists of 3 parts of other cities. Parts of Tarpon Springs, parts of Palm Harbor, and parts of Oldsmar, all which are located in Pinellas county. It is bordered by Trinity to the North (Pasco), Tampa/Odessa to the East (Hillsborough), and Lake Tarpon to the West (hence the name East Lake).

East Lake has some cool suburban attractions: an AMC 20 movie theatre, its own YMCA, tons of golf, some good local dining as well as chains.

It's a good place to live, but if you like the area I'd also take a look at Westchase... kinda similar but much closer to the city.

Source: I lived in East Lake for 9 years.

Yes, East Lake is in Pinellas county.
It is a very nice area, with houses and condos in all prices.
It is an area most people like and it's worth taking a look!!

Specifically 34655 Trinity

Generally the corridor along East Lake Road from north of Clearwater up to Trinity. This entire stretch seems to have some great subdivisions along it.

Ahh Okay then I apologize because I was confused. 34655 is Trinity which is Pasco, but it is not East Lake. East Lake is a totally different CDA than Trinity. However you can drive through one right before you hit the other.

Trinity is a bit further from all that I mentioned above, you'll be looking at smaller schools and less populated areas as it goes with Pasco. I think Mitchell High is there, you will have easy access to SR 54 though which has a bunch of good stuff on it.

But no that is not East Lake.
