There have been a lot of weather stories recently regarding Hurricanes that begin with the Letter "I"; some of the more destructive storms ever.

Current forecast is for ISAAC to head towards the eastern gulf.

I'm praying it blows out into the Atlantic.

Not very likely that it's going to blow out into the Atlantic, looking more and more like a Florida hit, but it keeps shifting from one side to another....... Gonna be interesting to watch for sure.

Since it is aimed right at Fl with the projections this far out, it will miss FL. Projections this far out ALWAYS change... since they always change, it will definitely change from hitting FL. Plus, ratings for the News is much better if people think it has a high chance on impacting them.

With that said, of course I am keeping an eye on it.

Thinking I might go buy a generator just as a precaution. I should have one anyhow. I have a portable air conditioner in the garage that I could move inside and easily run on a 4K generator (AC unit uses 1K). I would have plenty left to power the fridge (cycle it on and off every few hours), a fan, TV and a couple lights.

Picturing being stuck for just 2 days without power and it sounds like a miserable, hot existence for a little while.

That wasn't the case with Irene.

Just watch how it crosses Cuba and you will have pretty good idea where in Florida.

For those interested in seeing past Hurricane Tracks, here is a nifty interactive map that will let you see how your area fared historically. You can even enter a specific radius of area and see for yourself.

Historical Hurricane Tracks#

There is a good chance for this one given historical tracks.

If you want to see a very neat website that shows tracks, computer generated models, numberous satellite, radar, wind, moisture products it is called spaghetti models dot com. It is Mikes Weather Page which you can put on your Facebook as well. It is pretty neat.

Over the last 5 years the accuracy of the forecast models for normal weather and Tropical Tracks has gotten so much better. I have been watching the discussions on this for the past 72 hours and one of the models, GFS, has not waivered much at all and puts it right over Tampa.
