Don't rely on those "guaranteed" dolphin sighting tours. A friend of mine went on one that guaranteed dolphin sighting or your money back. They cruised around and there was one dolphine way out that showed his fin. The boat captain ponted it out and they hurried back to the marina. I have taken my kids on the speed boat tour. It is loud and does go fast. We had dolphins jumping the wake. They were just a few feet from the boat. When my kids were younger, we went to the pirate ship tour in Clearwater. It was okay. They did point out the dolphins, even though it wasn't meant for dolphin sightseeing.

I don't think the dolphins are interested in knocking over the boats, even fairly small ones.

We go out on the water with friends and see dolphins all the time. It seems like it would be fairly easy to find them on one of those cruises.

I can't imagine one trying to tip over a boat. They just like to follow along beside or behind you.

LOL at that flyer......

"So if you don;t see any on your trip.... you will get a voucher to come back. Which sucks for tourists.... but works great for locals."

You can take a SunDeck boat out instead of a Pontoon. We had 8 of us (Capacity was 12). Really depends on what you prefer. The nice thing about the large sundecks is you can take them out into the Gulf. With the pontoons you'll be required to stay in the intercoastal.

The age of your kid is fine as long as someone is going to keep an eye on your child all the time. Do not expect your husband to captain the boat and watch a 3 year old child. He needs to have his full attention on captaining the boat (looking out for sandbars or idiots on the waterway).

Goto John's Pass.
Buy the kids ice cream.
Stand on the deck overlooking the Pass.
See more dolphins than you can count.
Save $100.
