We are relocating to Florida in a few months. We have 2 kids that are in Middle School, next year High School. My husband will be working in St-Petersburg (close to 686 and 275). We have narrowed down 2 areas that have good schools for the kids. Palm Harbor and Lutz (cheval Odessa area). How is the commute from these 2 areas?

Palm Harbor would be a better commute to St. Pete, IMO. One of the things you have to realize is that the Tampa Bay area is pretty broad and spread out. I would think the commute from Lutz to St. Pete would be out of the question.

About an hour at rush hour from Lutz. About 40 minutes otherwise.

I just got stuck in rush hour Tuesday, and I really don't know why! There were no accidents, the toll plaza at Waters was free of congestion, BUT half way on Howard Frankland to the Veterans exit was literally not moving. Definitely NOT a commute I'd want everyday. Unless your hours are odd, and you can avoid the traffic I don't suggest you attempt this.

Palm Harbor is closer, and I say that Loosely.

algia, I love your maps. I think it's one of the best public services on this board, ever.

Either of those commute to St. Pete are going to be daunting. If you look at the maps you'll see there is no real highway between Palm Harbor and St. Pete.

Seminole has a good Middle and High School. It's also close to the beaches.

Great advice, I 100% agree^^^. The traffic and stop-and-go is horrendous. I would never do it.

And yes, algia's maps are awesome!

Thanks for the information. I checked the schools in Seminole and they are not that great!! I guess we will have to drive it a few morning/evenings to see how traffic is. My husband already commutes 45 min here in NH...but highway only not stop and go!!! Palm Harbor University High is suppose to be one of the best high school around, so I guess that is why we are looking in that district.
