I was wondering if anyone had any info on the northeast corner of Hernando county near Istachatta... My girlfriend and I are relocating there from St Pete because she got a really great job in Brooksville. We looked at a few places around town and were kind-of scared off because most of the neighborhoods we looked in seemed quite sketchy. We definitely don't want to live on the west side of the Suncoast Parkway or south of town (sorry Spring Hillian), I grew up in North Port and the retiree/suburban sprawl/strip mall/characterless houses thing is not my stlye to say the least. Anyway, we found a nice little house on 5 acres out near the border of Hernando, Sumter, and Citrus counties, the land out there is really quite beautiful; rolling hills, pine forests, etc. Yes, we are aware that it is VERY rural and we'd have to sort of adapt to a very different lifestyle but beyond that, should I be aware of anything else that I might not be expecting that would make me think twice?

Thanks! Oh, and I bartend, so if anyone knows of any fun bars in Inverness, Dade City, Brooksville, Floral City or Bushnell, PM me!

Noting that great about the area. Parts of Brooksville ARE sketchy.

Citrus county is a little nicer, but that whole area North of US 52 is pretty rural. I dont know about any "fun" bars. Most of them are the hick, "get drunk and go home and beat your wife" types of bars from where I stand

Its too bad that you know so little about the subject.

Yes, South Brooksville is a low income area. You'd be hard pressed to find another.

Yes, the area North of 52 is pretty rural. I hope it stays that way. it is obvious that you know nothing
about the goings on as far as the bar scene here, but who the hell depends on the bar scene.

I do sadly, it's easier on the back than warehouse work.

We looked at a couple houses really close to the downtown area and near the high school and there were some really seedy-types hanging around. Not to sound antisocial but at least in the area that I think we're going to go with, there's more land separating us from our neighbors.
