Hi everyone we are moving to the tampa area. we are looking at either the westchase area or the palm harbor area. Hoping you can help us decide if these areas would be good for us. We have 4 children so schools are a huge priority. work commute isn't an issue, I stay at home and my husbands work covers most of fl and ga.

we like this area because it's close to the coast, close to the gymnastics center we would prefer for our daughter, and it's on the north side of tampa so that puts us atleast a little bit closer to our familys in alabama.

we will be renting at first but then looking to buy. we would be looking to buy something around 2000 sq ft and 4bd, budget under 300k

hoping to find an area that is nice, but not stuck-up.

any info you can give us would great!

Would be difficult to find that 4 bedroom for under 300K in the Westchase area, but I know there are a couple. Palm Harbor would provide more. Less than two miles North of Westchase is Odessa and that opens up even more properties.

For your price range HUGE HOMES, Brand New, are available in Land O Lakes right off the Veterns Expressway (Suncoast Highway). A little more rural feel but still easily accessable. My daughter goes to Sunlake High School (the middle school and elementary school are less than 1 mile from each other). It has created a tight bond as the kids go through all the school years with the same friends.

Hope this helps. But with your price range, you can get some GREAT HOMES if you are open to a couple of other areas.

Palm Harbor and Safety Harbor would be worth looking into.

Hello there,

My sister lives in clearwater, but she has her 2 kids attend Palm Harbor University High School. She said the school is excellent and does not mind driving 35' each way to school everyday. Hope this help

Take a look around those areas on Trulia or Zillow. I see numerous houses that fit your criteria. Are you considering East Lake, just north of Westchase? East Lake High is one of the top schools in the region (along with Palm Harbor and Plant).

One thing to think about between East Lake/WestChase versus Palm Harbor is whether you'd prefer to be close to the beaches or downtown Tampa or downtown St Pete.

To look for places try Redfin . Trulia and Zillow have older info that is not updated as it should be.
If Redfin is not in the area try Realtor.com or a Realtors web site

Redfin is not available in the state of Florida. Are you being paid to promote Redfin?
