Things that are nice and still here during the winter:

Beaches

Parks

Busch Gardens

Great Dining

Golf

Kayaking

Nature Trails

Plays

Concerts

Sports

And much much more.

So I am not sure how you can say weather is the "only" nice thing in the winter....

Wow, folks, I'm sitting here in Philadelphia, awaiting a major snowstorm, and feeling depressed. I visited the area last year and fell in love with it. I would love to move there someday, but I heard that the job market is not good. So I'm Florida dreaming . . .

Default I can't answer that question, but my attempt

First of all the weather: After living in North Florida, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington. There is no comparison. Ohio had refrozen snow on the ground for 3 months. Michigan lake effect snow was even worse. Vehicles deteriorate in those conditions. In NC, they have few snow plows, so an inch of snow shut everything down. In Tenn. people would drive in the snow and have no idea that 4 wheel drive on ice doesn't help going down the mountains.

Second of all the people: I enjoy the variety of cultures, accents, skin tones, fashion, and food from my friends. Everything from real mexican, to cuban, to curry from my Indian friends, to Jamaican food, delicious.

Third is the beaches. I can't say enough about Desoto, Honeymoon, Pass-a-Grille, etc.

Fourth is the cost of living. My 4BR/3BA/2Car house with caged pool in a subdivision with great neighbors for $1600/month is unheard of.

Fifth is the great roads, highways, interstates. Up north, the potholes swallow cars, the lack of limited access highways do not compare to highways like I-275, Veterans, I-4, and others. In Indianapolis, Detroit, Columbus, Cleveland, and other cities, 2 lanes is all you get most places. Here the roads are wide, multi-lane, maintained, and well laid out.

Sixth is the shopping malls. Tampa is spoiled with great shopping.

And finally seventh is the entertainment. A Rays game for $12. A Bucs game for $35. Iceskating for $10. Busch Garden is great. The Zoo is decent. MOSI for the kids. Lettuce Lake park. The channelside area is very good. The Tampa Bay Times Forum is great.
