What are the closest hotels to Ybor City? Coming up for the Outback Bowl and will be there pretty early New Years Eve. Would like to be close to Ybor City.

If there aren't any, I would like to stay in a nice location and we'll just cab it there and back.

Thanks!

Don't know how fancy you want, but the Floridan Palace is a historic hotel in downtown Tampa that has recently been renovated and re-opened after being closed for I can't remember how long. It looks beautiful. Here is the website:

There are hotels directly in Ybor City you should consider. Namely:

Don Vicente Ybor

Hilton Garden Inn Tampa Ybor Historic District

Hampton Inn & Suites Tampa Ybor Hotel, Tampa FL

All three are within the Ybor City district, just a few blocks from the heart of 7th avenue. I would suggest the Don Vicente, but if you're not the boutique-minded traveler the Hampton Inn is a great option too.

You also have the Marriott, Sheraton, Westin, and Hyatt in downtown Tampa. All are a quick cab drive to the stadium and Ybor.

I would suggest the Floridan hotel because it is unique and new. I went to the bar there recently and was impressed at the renovations.

Called today and these people still have a lot of rough edges.

Firstly, you cannot view rates or book via their website. That really isn't too much of a problem except when I went to call and make a reservation, I was put on hold an additional 15 minutes.

This means you have no idea of what the rates ballpark until you are able to talk to someone.

For the rate of $225 per night, I expect a lot more in the customer service department. I spent almost twenty years in the hotel business and I can take a lot from a hotel.

These people are still a little unorganized.

Thank you! I tried the Don Vicente but they are sold out!

Aww, that's too bad - the place looks so beautiful. It hasn't been open very long, so hopefully they get the kinks worked out eventually, the guy made a huuuuge investment in it.

I'm sure they will! The hotel is too gorgeous and the location is too good. I'm sure they will stay there sometime down the road and thank you for the suggestion!
