Pasco's SR 54 corridor poised for takeoff - Tampa Bay Times

A great article about the future plans along HWY 54 in Southern Pasco County.

New Community College
Raymond James
T. Rowe Price

These companies don't open businesses in isolated/depressed areas.

I think it would be great if they put a corridor around here. Hope they do some planning on how to take care of traffic! But having a road that could intersect for an easier commute to Orlando would be nice. Even if it merges over by Plant City it would keep from having to use I-75 to I-4.

What they are going to do is a study:

"To accommodate all the traffic along SR 54 expected to be caused by that growth, county commissioners agreed to begin a projected six- to eight-month study of adding so-called managed lanes of traffic including variable tolls and potentially elevated highways to connect the Suncoast Parkway and Interstate 75."

Study doesn't mean anything will be built in the next 10 years
Besides, managed lines are an addition of a new lane in each direction/conversion of existing lanes (one in each direction) to toll lanes. So, it's kind of toll road withing existing SR 54...

Pasco has few other roads they already spent money for study and even design, but nothing was constructed... maybe one day...

I was excited when I read this article this morning as I will be moving to Land O Lakes next month! However, I'm not sure if in general, development = increased home value.

As a Pasco County resident, I am not happy they spend our money (millions of dollars!!! yes, that much!) for different studies like PD&E study and even design, but never finish these projects due to no money for R/W acquisition or construction..
Just a few active ones besides the one they were talking about in that article

I'm looking forward to the outlet mall at Cypress Creek. It's much closer than either Ellenton or Orlando. Article here --> Saks, Other Outlet Stores Coming to Wesley Chapel - New Tampa, FL Patch

I'm with TampaKaren....waiting for the outlet mall and soon they probably will start to extend St. Rd 56 which has been the plan so it will be easier to get to Orlando but from where I live I can take easily Morris Bridge to Paul Buchman Hway to Orlando...

It is great living in Wesley Chapel and we were just checking out the property taxes and for a small town home in West Chase you pay more than we in a 3500 sqft home...
