Might buy a Salt Life sticker and put it on my car bumper just to make the "expert" anglers angry.
It really doesnt have to be complex, just an inexpensive fishing rod with a hook on the end of the line and a shrimp/crab or minnow on the hook and a location that looks good for fishing,
i've been fishing for fun for 50yrs and basically thats still my set up.
From the picnic area of Ft Desoto i took this shot of my buddy fishing, beer is close by.We didnt catch anything but we had fun anyway..

Caught five bass over the course of the last two days - have been going out for about an hour or so to the lake in my community - newbie here. Still getting use to taking the hook out - 4 of the 5 bass had the hook deep into the fish's throat - and I guess it's because I'm not tugging on the reel immediately when I feel a bite.

Going out later in the day makes a huge difference - also changed line to braided along w/ a lizard-type of lure.
