Hi,

I am my wits end...maybe some advice?
I bought a home in St. Petersburg. I am using the communal 300 gallon container w/ 2 other homes.
The container is constantly filled over capacity with branches and brush all over the place. The lid stays open most of the time because it is so packed- thus attracting bugs, rodents ect. I also have to literally time my schedule around trash day just to be able to put my own garbage in.
Not only that, but the bin is right behind my property’s 6 ft privacy fence in the alleyway. Last week , my door to the alleyway was actually barricaded in due to all the branches around it. Seems as though one occupant (a renter of the neighbor’s home) is doing landscaping for other people, and leaving all the debris right behind my fence. This person will also literally sit there all day with a chainsaw cutting it up too, and standing in it (to compress it )while hovering over my private yard. (I am an extremely private person, and this does NOT sit well with me) Lucky me, I also get the luxury of enduring this 2-3 times a week. Going to the dump is not an option for this person as you cannot haul debris on a bicycle. I finally said something, it was liking talking to a wall. (Like I am the troublemaker here).
My question is, I do see I may qualify for the 90 gallon single homeowner container, and desperately want to do this. Can I move this 300 container a few feet away from my back fence and start using MY little area for my own container? Or do I have to put the 90 gallon on the curb only? I can no longer tolerate this and want the mini dump away from my fence! By the way, the neighborhood is actually pretty nice and clean, except for this one problem that I seem to be facing. I’m not about complaining to the city (I will if I have to)- but I think this may be a better solution that is right up my alley….get my own darn garbage can to put behind my own fence.
Please, any advice hear? Thanks a lot everyone

You need to call the city. They DO NOT like all that yard waste in the container-that's why they have brush sites and I'm betting they'll tell him to knock it off. All it take is one clod with a side business, whether it's landscaping or carpet installing or whatever, to ruin it for everyone. Sometimes a second container can be dropped off, but I'm betting this guy will just fill that one also if you don't call and complain.
St. Pete is pretty serious about illegal dumping. It's a $500 fine and/or arrest.

Hey thanks...please keep the advice coming.. I'm new to the rules and the area myself...and I honestly thought leaving all that debris was just not right. I also don't want any part of getting a fine!
