Hi all,

I am a pizza delivery driver in South Tampa and was wondering if anyone could recommend an auto mechanic for me.

I don't go to the large chain places since they all like inflating the price of any repair job. I have one guy I normally rely on in Tarpon Springs but he is not always available. Craigslist is 50/50, plus attracts a lot of shady people so I prefer word of mouth advertising.

Can anyone recommend me someone who is honest and will only recommend repairs that I really need.

Thanks

I like John's Auto, it's one block south of Gandy on WestShore. Only issue is that they are not open on weekends.

Cool. I will check them out for sure. I am looking to do a diagnostic next week.

I recently moved to Safety Harbor. A power window went out and I picked Coachman Automotive in Clearwater from Angie's List. The motor thingy in the window needed replacing. Coachman charged me $316 which was almost exactly half the amount the Jeep dealership would have charged. I had the dealership give me a breakdown on their cost and the part was almost what Coachman charged.

I recommend Chris Mann is S. Hillsborough. Not sure if he's too far from you. He's off E. College Ave/St Rt 674.

Do not walk, run (driving is okay too) to Bay Area Automotive on Rome and Fig, a few blocks north of Kennedy. I went in there with a sputtering engine that barely rolled into the shop. They ran diagnostics and found that a specific part of my fuel system was failing and the culprit could be replaced for ~$145. The office manager Theresa called a few places to get the lowest price on the part while the mechanic finished up. In the process, he noticed a cracked rubber tube that ultimately led to the failing unit.

45 minutes later, he fixed the fuel system by replacing the hose with material he had in stock. They called off the order for the replacement part and were all set. My cost? "Don't worry about it".

I drove off with my healthy vehicle and have been a loyal customer since. Here's there info:
Automotive Repair, Fleet Services, Car Maintenance, Tampa, FL - Bay Area Automotive Services

Their reviews online are pretty stellar as well, mine included of course. I'm sure anyone's suggestions here are solid, but I had to throw in my two cents since I think I've found a gem.
