Take it with them....IF it was just PH it would have been updated long ago.
Here is a city data map of our section of Palm Harbor:

//www.city-data.com/zips/34685.html

And here is what it says:

City: Palm Harbor, FL
Pinellas County, FL
Estimated zip code population in 2010: 13,400

Did you notice how it said "city of Palm Harbor".

'Nough said. Over and out!

Let's go visual!
When the OP comes down, I will volunteer my time to point out these maps to him!

OP, based on your criteria, I really cannot think of an area better for you than the 34685 area in Palm Harbor. It has excellent schools, has shopping and dining right in and near by and you can easily get to some of the beaches in less than 30 minutes. I live in this exact area of Palm Harbor, so I know what it is like to live here on a daily basis. We picked it for its superior location, relatively easy traffic, beauty, great schools and very low crime. It fits your criteria exactly.

Best of luck to you in your search.

LOL Sorry OP this zip code has been disputed for a long time.

Anyway, will you be working in Palm Harbor? Cause if you're going to work in Tampa then be prepared for the commute from hell.

Look at Odessa, and Carrollwood/Citrus Park, all have good schools and a manageable commute to the beach.
Come to Lutz! It is really family oriented and has fantastic schools.

Exactly. If you are working in Palm Harbor or nearby, it's a great place to live. If you are going to commute to Tampa there is NO WAY IN HELL I would recommend it. The commute would be just awful.

And no, it is not 15/25mph. It is 40-50mph and even higher for the speeders. I am out and about every single day and never have any kind of issue. It's about as easy as it gets, which is why we chose this area....and why there is a premium on housing here.

Now if you are in the northwest corner of Palm Harbor, your guesses would be more accurate.

We really should provide accurate information for the OP.
You keep saying 611/East lake McMullen is faster but you must be driving at night or outside of rush hour. I drive that place everyday and in fact US 19 is better than McMullen at rush hour.

No, I drive it during rush hour. It is not bad until you get down past Gulf to Bay.

Now the roads in Tampa itself are a freaking nightmare. Hillsborough Ave is just plain scary.

Not too sure where exactly he will be working as he is a sub contractor and we are a good year and a half away until we put our house up for sale...he has a 'in' with a guy who runs all the Lowes on the east coast(or something like that( so I think as long as there is a Lowes near by that has enough business as far as flooring goes that is where we will end up but I want to try and see where the best 'fitting' area is for us and then see what there is for leads for him in that area..as for me I am a hair stylist so as long as there are salons (which there are usually plenty seeing hair never stops growing lol) I am good as far as I go..so just trying to do the proper amount of research so I feel confident when we make our first trip to check out the spots that we had in mind...

There is a Lowes on Dale Mabry and Fletcher rd.
IF you live in Lutz, Odessa, Carrollwood, Northdale, or Citrus Park his commute would be great, and very short.

Your weekend commute to the beach would not be bad either, but just around 25/30 minutes (UNLESS you go to the beach at 12PM) we don't. If you want to go to the beach "Monday trough Friday" you'll just have to wait until after the morning rush, and it only takes about 25 minutes to Howard Park...not bad at all. YES, plenty of hair salons.....LOL

This is how it looks on the map:
