Well it's happened again. I have now been laid off due to re-orgs twice. The first one was after being with the company for 9 years. This time.... 9 months. Apparently 9 is my number.

Experienced as a Business Analyst and/or Project Manager for a Commercial Insurance Brokerage and International Bank. Also have experience in Operations and being a supervisor of a team of 20+ specialists.

If you know of anything that may be available, want a copy of my resume or are able to introduce me to someone who might be able to help me out I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Sorry to hear - maybe now that overly optimistic poster who says that all is well with our job market and everyone from the rest of the country should move on down here needs to visit this thread and discuss that POV some more.

Well I know you can't be talking about me, as I never said all is well or that everyone should move here. I actually post to people that I can't decide for them....only they can.

As a matter of fact, here is what I said in another thread, regarding the jobs here. Not quite what you are claiming about "possibly" me:

This.......pretty much!

While the job market here is not nearly as bad as some people claim, IMO, it is still not hitting on all cylinders. We are gaining power though, so that is very good.

This!

Getting your resume in front of as many as possible can only help.

Timing matters!

This is why networking is so incredibly important. You need to be known, so when something comes up you might be thought of. Many jobs don't ever make it to print/online. You need to be thought of, before it is posted.

Yep!

Sometimes taking a job you may not have been looking for is worth while, if it gets you into the company you want to work for. Then at least they can see your skills first hand....and who knows from there.

Yep!

Which is the case just about everywhere in the country. While we are certainly getting better, we are not totally back yet.

Now, while we are certainly not all the way back, it is nice to see that we are headed in the right direction. The numbers are what they are and cannot be disputed. Apples to apples. People certainly can debate what they "think" will happen going forward or they can debate how far along they "think" we should be by now, but there is no debating that the unemployment rate continues to drop and is below the U.S. rate, which most people consider better than staying the same or going up.
Now that we have shown my posts have not been quoted properly, let me say this:

The OP is doing the right thing by immediately networking. Bravo for taking the bull by the horns.

Also, the OP was downsized in the last year and managed to get another job. Bravo!

OP....keep at it and you will most likely land another. You seem like a real quality employee and a hard worker.

I can only suggest USAJOBS.gov. with your skills, you may do well as a program manager, something to think about.

Florida Kash, very proactive on your part. You'll be employed again in no time, maybe in an even better situation.

Sign of the times.

Another trend I've noticed (which I think stinks) is employers hiring people "part time" for 32 hours. I've called on some gigs that were advertised as "part time", only to be told that they're looking for someone to work 32 hours, spread over five or even six days. They're looking to come as close as they can to full time, and get away without paying insurance. I'm not sure how that works, exactly, but with an unpaid lunch hour, you're really at work for 37 hours.

Are you going to re-look some of those businesses that you might have pursued last time? Maybe there's a change in their job statuses (maybe something opened up).

I think I heard about some hiring freezes in civil services - due to the federal budget crisis/problem.
