Do they not know how much the tickets are? for one...and that some of us are not comfortable letting our small kids alone in theme parks? (because 20 kids to a few teachers in a theme park is not enough) What is at Busch Gardens that is educational?

One of my kids had a field trip to Busch Gardens a couple years ago. It was behind the scenes stuff, like taking care of the animals and whatnot. So I felt like that was worthwhile.

My middle schooler is supposed to be going to Universal Studios. It's probably not going to happen. I am the worst mother in the world, I know. I was not comfortable with the amount of chaperoning, and the fact that it goes until 2 am.

The solution seems pretty simple to me.. if you dont feel comfortable with your child going, either go WITH them, or dont let them go.

Animals!
To my big suprise many children have no idea how certain animals, birds, even fruits and vegetable look like! So, a trip to zoo or BG might be a good idea. As for Universal or Legoland, I don't think so and if my child will be going, I will take a day off and join him... I want him to attend as the rest of kids...
By the way, don't they have parents going with them anyways since there are too many kids for few teachers...

There are only a few parents going, and I don't trust that they'll be able to manage him well; he is Autistic/PDD/NOS...and the "no rides" thing might be a huge issue. We go often to Animal Kingdom (Disney annual passes paid for already)...the zoo...etc...so, he know his animals...we don't frequent BG. I don't have $85 bucks all of the sudden, nor $77 for my little guy who I have nobody to leave with...I think schools should do a better job advertising school trips at the beginning of the year so those of us without stuffed bank accounts can budget for this stuff, and not be surprised with these trips overnight. My daughter had to miss hers at MOSI for the same reason. IF they know about these trips then they need to let us know. Not send me a stupid note with 3 days notice!

It sucks that he can't go, I don't want him not to go with his class etc, but I don't trust them...its a theme park....lots of people...plus, we're not made out money. If they had said a word about this at the beginning of the school year then we would have been able to budget for it. I just don't like being put in this situation...and look like "I" am the bad guy, when its their fault for not notifying us with time in advance. We only make a fixed amount of money that has to cover everything house wise, food wise, gas wise...all these things are pop ups that some of us don't have the luxury to afford.

I totally agree they should let parents know at the beginning of each school year...
