I am just looking for opinions and info. I will be moving South, probably St. Pete's or Tampa come late spring. I am from Boston, I am a 34yr old male, work as a truck driver and bouncer. My family is moving to New Tampa soon, and my little brother is stationed in Georgia. So I figure why stay up here. I am a regular guy who loves the heat, beer, and being outside.

What should I know about this area. High crime rate like Dorchester or Hyde Park? Housing costs are high here. Is it high there for a nice place? Is work hard to come by? Are women stuckup or friendly? I heard snakes are a problem, is that true I am not a fan of snakes!.......Joe

You sure you're not leaving because of NEMO?

Got a few snakes, alligators, lovebugs and palmetto bugs down here. Stay off the golf courses.

Can't stereotype the girls for you.

Good luck w/ the move.

Half the Trop is filled w/ Bosox fans whenever Boston is in town. Same goes for RayJay when the Pats and the Times Forum when the Bruins are in town. You might get homesick with the number of New England transplants who've migrated down here for the weather.

Big Steve - are you being transferred to Tampa Bay for a driving job? I ask because my bf and I are making the move in a year. I realize it's kind of far out but any connections he can make leading up to the move will really be helpful. He drives, class A and has his Hazmat.

New Tampa is one of the nicest, low crime areas of Hillsborough county. Lots of road contruction on Bruce B Downs and I-75 right now so traffic sucks. Dont worry about snakes, youll more than likely never see one. As far as women go, I dunno, Im 33 and married and most of the girls in our age group are either doing the whole married with kids thing or still acting like theyre in high school with the drugs and partying ect... not sure if thats your thing or not. Lots of divorcees and widows in their 50s and 60s though!

That's great. I'm sure you can't wait for the transfer.

I'm guessing I'll probably have a more difficult time finding something with my background then my boyfriend will. I bet there's a lot of trucking companies down there.
