Thanks in advance for letting me pick your brains about a question I'm looking for perspective from others on... We've been accepted to Imagine (charter) and it's looking like we'll be zoned for Odessa next year. I've heard both are good schools, but have no experience with either as we haven't lived here very long. Do any of you have insight you can share about one vs. the other? Is there an advantage to a charter school vs. a public school if they are equal academically? Distance is not a factor and private school is out financially.

I know a family that sent there kids there for one year. They had been at Learning Gate Community School in Lutz (an ecology based charter school). There were good and bad things about Imagine. The students don't stay in one room. The students will go from teacher to teacher. The teacher will teach the same lesson K-8, but will teach for what is appropriate for that grade. Then the students move on to the next class. I know one teacher who worked there for a year and burned out. She liked being creative, but found she couln't be creative in Imagine. It wasn't for her. Some teachers may not mind teaching the same lesson throughout the day. The family took their kids out and went into the regular public school. Not sure if they think they made the right decision.
