My contract at AMEX was not renewed so I became jobless as of 12/31. I spent some time trying to find a job down here. The only offer I got was at 50% of what I was making. After a while, I was forced to expand my job search nationally. I ended up getting a call from a company that I worked for in the past and they offered me a position after a 10 min phone interview. (it's a major IT comnpany that I worked for for 7yrs, I knew the interviewer and the hiring manager). To make a long story short, I will be headed back to Atlanta in 2 weeks. I am going to miss this place, I have lived in about 8 different states and this is by far the best place I ever lived. At least I can take comfort that I have friends and family in Atlanta and the motorcycle riding is much better up in the the hills. Hopefully 1 day we will make it back down here (there is a possiblity of being able to telecommute after a little while).

Good luck with your move.
What's heartening and different about your post is that it's not the usual bile-ridden begrudgery from someone who has had a bit of bad luck and then blames the enitre state of Florida for their misfortune.
And it's also not the exuberant first-time posting of someone experiencing sun,sea and the Florida laid-back lifestyle of the first few weeks of moving down here.
You've lived here, you know what the deal is and you'll miss it.
Respect.

Enjoy Atlanta!

I know you'll miss St. Pete, but you have spring in the foothills of Appalachian's to look forward to! Hell, I'm jealous!

I'm sure you'll get back to St. Pete eventually if that's where you want to be! I've been criticized for saying it in the past, but in this economy and the way the country is right now, you have to go where a good paying job will lead you!
