I own a house in valrico and will have to rent it out when I move. Does anyone have experience with property managers in the area? Any offer military discounts? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

We don't work in that area so I won't be able to help you but I can answer the other question.

We don't give discounts to anybody so we can't be excused of being biased or treating one group different.

It is up to each owner to decide if he/she wants to give a discount but so far we haven't had any owner giving discount for a rental unless they wanted to lower the rent amount for everybody.

We had overall good experience with military service people but had a couple breaking their lease due to moving and usually it means faster repainting a unit or property.

We did have one lying about moving for service requirements and just breaking a lease and that was solved easily when we contacted te military.

Thanks for the info bentlebee, however my question is related to finding a good property manager for my house when I leave Tampa. I'm in the military and have seen one company that offers a military discount, which is why I brought that up. It seems that most managers charge 10% of the rent and 1/2 of the 1st months rent for a new lease. Anyone know of any companies that have lower rates? Thanks.

Careful...many companies or agents will do it for cheaper and cheat you out later on repairs, so careful what comes with cheap business.

Also there are companies that promise a background check and do so but don't check what is on there and let anybody in, and don't care about later issues.

We worked with an owner who went through this with a company in Tampa and the owner is a military major himself. he is now selling the properties and we managed them after he dealt with a lot of theft ad on both homes evictions while background checks were perfomed. I later saw the background checks and noticed prior evictions and multiple felony convictions.

The owner filed a complaint with the DBPR and nothing was done which is very disturbing to me.
