Time to reprogram your irrigation system, if you use one.

Many people over water as it is which leads to more problems down the road. After a lawn is established the watering should have been cut back to allow a deeper root system to develop which would in turn make the lawn less water needy and more drought tolerant.

Unfortunately water restrictions are barely enforced. Too bad, the city/county could make all sorts of additional income by fining people.

This happens pretty much every year.

What I don't get is why so many ppl are watering their lawn in the middle of the day still? (when its hotter and water evaporates faster) or like a neighbor we have, when it rains too!

They have sensors for when it rains...

Nope.

Tampa Bay Phase III Water Restrictions

I'm not using my irrigation, and I am not alone. Most of the lawns in my neighborhood are brown and dormant.

I did run it a little when I first bougt the house but found some leaks. I've fixed all but one. After I replace this last bad sprinkler head, I may start using the system again. We're on one-day restrictions here, have been for quite some time it seems.

I don't understand the people who run them during the day. Our current water restrictions dictate watering after 6PM or before 8AM. But, I do see sprinklers running during the day sometimes. As far as running them when it rains I guess people just forget to turn the things off since they do run on a program, and maybe some can't afford a rain sensor.
