I have a job oportunity in Oldsmar next year and I am researching where to look for a house to rent. The job pays around $60k a year. My wife is Polish and doesn't speak the best english, so it may be a while before she can work. She is trained as a hairdresser. Is $60k a year enough for a family of 4 with no debts?

Where is your employment and the hours you will be working. - Oldsmar. 8am to 4:30pm

What is your budget for housing. Do you want to rent or buy? - ~$1500 a month to rent. I must have a garage and at least 3 bedrooms.

Are schools a concern? Yes. I have a 9 and 14 year old.

What is an acceptable commute time? Up to 30 minutes each way.

What else is important to you? Closer to the beach if possible. Low crime area.

Also, are the bugs and snakes really bad? I can't imagine so many tourists if you get eaten alive every day. I lived in Biloxi, MS for a year and loved the weather there so I assume I will like Florida weather. Any more advice on things I should consider?

Thanks for the help

With 30 min commute from Oldsmar, you can find a home with 3 bedroom and garage for $1500. Will not be any closer to the beach.

Bugs/Snakes are almost non-existent in FL just kidding...however, they are not bad. infact, you pay no attention to them unless you are bitten!

Your job is next year which means it may or may not happen(the move i mean).

I would check out the area of Oldsmar. It has some nice areas where your 1500 will rent you a decent place. And if you have to get home because the wife (non English speaking) needs some help, you can be there in a minute. Look a little North into Citrus Park as well.

You can get to the Beach, but if you are working, you probably aren't going to be walking it before you have to leave for work.
