Is it legal within Tampa city limits to feed feral cats? I have been looking, without much success, to find the municipal code that prohibits feeding feral cats and/or keeping a feral cat colony in a city neighborhood.

All I have found so far is that its illegal to feed wild animals - i.e. alligators, raccoons, etc.. but no mention of strays.

Anyone information would be great -

It isn't illegal to feed them, but it would be nice if you could get the cats neutered.

Then all you'll have is a well fed, neutered flea infested cat. That problem can get way out of control.

Not really. My family inherited a pack of feral cats with a house they bought when I was a kid. They had the adult cats spayed and neutered and we adopted two kittens, the rest were re-homed. By the timed we moved several years later the feral cat population was gone.

No one. The cats we had were wild. With the exception of the kittens they were not treated for fleas.

Edit:Back then the only flea treatment was Sevens-Dust

I think the neutering part is what keeps the problem from getting out of control.

I hate the feral cat problem in our neighborhood. The old people seem to love to feed the damn cats, and then they hang out in my yard. I really hate cats, so it figures they'd pick MY yard to hang out in.
