Okay here goes. I might be moving to the Tampa Bay area for a job. I much prefer rural countryside (1 or 2 acres and modest house) to city living. The job will be in Ybor City. What kind of commute am I looking at to live in a modest house on 1 or 2 acres? Again, I don't want to live on a luxurious horse farm or in a subdivision. I want a little house tucked away from the busy city. Price range: ~$90,000 or less. It can be a fixer upper, no problem.

I'd look for a place up in Lutz.

I currently live in a 40 year old house that I fixed up. It's out in the country and I love it. I'm looking for something similar. Has to be relatively safe too.

An acre in that price range might be a problem, unless you go pretty Far East.

Thonotosassa, Dover might also work for you. Might be able to find something with acreage. Might have to look at a foreclosure or short sale to get what you're looking for.

Be careful about regions where there's a lot of sinkholes.

Or you could try Thonotosassa, or Dover/Seffner (just be sure to check for sinkholes)

Yeah guys, I'm a little concerned about the sinkholes.

I found this property:
18711 Red Bird Ln Lithia FL - Home For Sale and Real Estate Listing - MLS #T2551071 - Realtor.comĀ®

Is it within driving distance of Ybor City?

Not really, IMO, because of the route you'd have to take to get there, but someone else may have a different opinion.

I would suggest the Plant City area also. That is just east of Ybor, probably not more than 10 or 15 minutes drive depending on point-to-point.
