I read something about the potential for this movie to give Tampa Bay a proverbial black eye.

It's a movie. Silly to think it will color anyone's perception of the area.

The Pinellas beaches aren't that crazy.
We get our share of Spring Breakers and parties at beach bars, but nothing crazy. I would think Treasure island would be more of a destination since it has NO open container laws. You can walk anywhere in he city with a beer bottle in hand. They do ask that no glass makes its way onto the beach, but cans and cups are welcome on the sand.

People who would think that probably also think there is a superhero called "The Punisher" walking around the streets of Tampa.

The area already has a reputation for being "trashy", so this movie just plays on that and ups the ante a little. Lots of wanna-be gansters in Tampa and surroundings. I bet they're going to love this movie.
