Is there a market for plastering services here? I'm talking interior veneer plaster (over blueboard), not pools or venetian. Are there any contractors? Thanks!

Do you also hang drywall? I ask because my bf is a former union taper and now works for a small private construction company where he hangs, tapes, etc.. For some reason, the (key) word plaster or plasterer does not come up in searches very often but if you search under taper or drywall or even metal stud framing, you get alot of responses (esp. drywall).

I think I can post the site he uses - Indeed.com. That has produced his last two jobs.

Do you work for yourself or looking to get hired?

I work for myself- I have my own company up in the Boston/ Cape Cod area. Much of my immediate family has relocated to the St Pete area and I find myself traveling down there quite a bit. Being a workaholic, it would be great to branch out and expand my business to the region. I have done work down there, for family, but I have no idea if there is any demand outside of those jobs. I can hang drywall, but as a plasterer by trade, I'm not a fan of the drywall products
Up in the northeast the majority of properties are plastered for a number of reasons (temperature control, moisture barrier, aesthetics, acoustics, etc.). It seems the complete opposite in FL, and I was just wondering why....
Thanks for your response!

I am sure that the quality building contractors would be interested in hiring you as a subcontractor. Not sure of your license requirements but I'm sure you need some. I need some small plastering done I actually have plaster in my house on ceilings and walls, -before the drywall days ! Just finding someone to redo my bathroom ceiling - due to a leak and tidy up my kitchen walls after tearing off tile and moving some outlets is nigh on impossible.

good luck to you

My husband's a plasterer from Ma.too,we are trying to move to florida but i also wasn't sure if people used blueboard and plaster down there.so far I've seen a lot of interior stucco, which he can do. Anyway if you managed to branch out your business, he's got 30 years of plastering under his belt.
