Hey there everyone. My name is Dan. Currently I live in Kansas City, Missouri. My partner and I are seriously considering moving to the Tampa area. Before I do all of that, I need to line up a job. I have done printing bindery for over 20 years, and the last couple of years, I have ran black and white and color copiers. I found a couple of prospects on monster.com, but I haven't checked indeed.com yet. Any other sources locally you could recommend would be greatly appreciated.

Can you explain what you mean by printing binary? My daughter is in the journalism class in her high school. They have their newspaper professionally printed. Is that what you are talking about, or do you mean printing for magazines, valpak coupon mailers, cereal box designs, etc? I don't think you are talking about Kinkos or Office Depot stuff, are you?

The Bindery's job in a print shop is to cut, fold, bind and wrap (or package). For example, in the case of a newspaper, it would be like taking the unfolded sheets, collating them together in the right order and then folding them. (This step is NORMALLY done at the end of a special type of press with equipment attatched to it to fold it as it comes off the press. In MY case, its more like cutting business cards, postcards, and letterhead. Or folding things like the letters that come in your mail, and inserting them into the envelopes. Kinko's and Office Depot are, for lack of a better term, a "dumbed down" or simplified version. Though I wouldn't be opposed to working at those kinds of places, they generally don't pay very well. What I need are actual printers, preferrably commercial printers. I hope this answered some of your questions.

I don't think you will get jobs lined up for you in that industry. A lot of printing places like flyer are going out of business thants to digital era and most companies can order whatever needs to be printed online and it's going to be way cheaper compare to Staples and Kinko's.
