Soooo frustrating. I didn't read the latest responses until I was able to watch the game (I had it recorded). Four hours and it didn't cover the end of the game

I agree with the reliever/closer business. Peralta was looking sharp and unhittable. I'm probably being a Monday morning quarterback but I wonder if the outcome would have been different had he been allowed to pitch the 9th?

So I guess I missed a bad ending.

BucFan, hopefully you'll get to see a better outcome today.

headed out soon.......looking forward to it after a busy morning out in the sun, it'll be nice to hit the air conditioning of the Trop for a nice comfortable afternoon of baseball.....I'll try to ignore the Yankme, oops----Yankees fans who really ought to adopt their home team Rays anyway.

I was going to ask (a little afraid of the answer, lol)...how do Yankees fans compare to Sox fans there?

I forgot to mention earlier, they were talking stats and I found this interesting. Moore's ERA for the first inning (prior to yesterday's game) was 7.00 but his ERA for the 2nd inning on is only 1.37. That's awesome (the latter). Anyone have any thoughts why Moore gets a slow start out of the gate?

p.s. I barely recognize the Yankees lineup. Jeez.

Sox and Yankee fans are very similar. Both boisterous, regardless that they're in our house. If I went to either of their stadium, I'd have beer poored on my and probably would be roughed up if I yelled for the Rays all game long in their home stadiums.

Nice win by the Rays - except for the last inning.....got a pizza out of it anyway.

That is a shame (about the NY & Boston fans). And I hate to say it but you're probably right. I think I've said it here earlier that there are the crazed fanatics who have no class whatsoever and they're the ones who give the rest a bad name.

But more importantly, what a great game today! It got a little hairy at the end but I like this guy Peralta. How did you get pizza?

I think Maddon was trying to reward him for his efforts (to give him a complete game). Since Cobb only had about 100 pitches going into the 9th, it wasn't that big of a strain. Besides, the bullpen hasn't been the most reliable lately, so they probably were trying to give those guys a rest. Cobb had a 3-hit shut out that he took into the 9th back in April against these hated-Yankees.http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/31086/alex-cobb

Thanks for the link. I was reading how he had one game with 13 strikeouts in 4 2/3 (wow!). Do you know why he was pulled at that point?

He threw 117 pitches by that point in the game - Maddon is big on pitch count to protect the starters.
